The mountain guides of La Rébenne are passionate about their work. Certified by the French government, they are specialists in diverse areas such as geology, biology, history, the environment, working with children and youth. These professionals will share with you, in perfect safety, their knowledge of the mountain milieu both natural and human. For you they'll make the very stones, clouds, animals and plants speak of the history of these mountains.

Whether on a gentle walk around a lake, a strenuous high mountain hike or during a walking holiday of several days in France or Africa, the guides of La Rébenne will help you experience the mountains to their fullest.

La Rébenne

Le GR 10 in the land of the bear tamers

7 days, 6 nights with 6.5 walking days - 590€

This trip allows you to explore the mountain at a gently pace in an environment that is still wild and unspoiled.
Departing from Couflens in the heart of the Castillon area Castillonais, our guide Henri, who is native to the region, will tell you stories of this land.

The valley of Bidos « the land of the bear tamers » comes next; Aulus les bains, and its famous waterfall are also on the route.

We arrive in the Vicdessos valley via the port de Saleix. We pass by the magnificent lakes at Bassies, and to end the trip, walk to the mines of Rancié and the col de Grail.

Program

Day 1 : STRETCHING OUR LEGS
Reception of the group and transfer to the departure point at Couflens.
Climb to the gîte d'étape Rouze, where our hosts will prepare one of their specialities.
Overnight in gîte.

Day 2 :FOREST, PRAIRE AND GASTRONOMIC SURPRISE
We head for Bidous, half forest, half high altitude prairie with a little variant on the Tuc de Peyre. then descend to the gîte d'étape at Bidous. Overnight in gîte.

Day 3 : FOREST AND WATERFALLS
The day begins with a climb towards the Picou de la Mire and a magnificent descent through the forest passing by the Fouillet waterfall and Aulus-les-Bains.
Overnight in gîte.

Day 4 : CIRCUIT WALK
From the gîte we do a round trip walk via the Ars waterfall (one of the highest and most beautiful in the Pyrenees) and the Guzet lake. Return to the gîte.

Day 5 : BEECH FOREST AND LAKES
A magnificent beech forest keeps us cool for the is slightly longer stage with a passage through the port de Saleix and then the Alate lake, after which we arrive above the Bassiés lakes and the refuge there. Overnight in mountain refuge. Note: no luggage that night.

Day 6 : TOWARDS THE PAYS DE SOS
After skirting the edge of the Majou, Rond et l’Escale lakes, a marked descent through the forest brings us to the village of Marc. Then we follow the stream to arrive in Vicdessos. Overnight in gîte.

J 7 : MINES AND A COL
Walks to the mines of Rancié and the col de Grail.
We disperse about 4:00 pm.
