It is equally an opportunity to take in the renowned seaside resorts of the Atlantic coast, to taste local specialties and take a deep breath of sea air ! 

With your family, in pair or with friends, get on your bike to ride on the Cathar Country roads. It is a land rich of histories, where the medieval castles over mountain peaks have an exceptional architecture. This country had also keep a wild and various nature. Between crests and canyons, ride at your own pace along the Cathar trail or on charming small roads and enjoy the time of travel to discover unforgettable places.

This 6-day cycling trip allows you fully discover the rich heritage of the Périgord Noir.

Passing between Sarlat, Lascaux, the Eyzies of Tayac, the Châteaus of Beynac, Cazenac and Castelnaud or   Domme and the Roque Gageac, this trip is a true journey through time, stretching from the prehistoric  era all the way to the medieval period ! 
Riding along small lanes and through charming villages, you will discover the hidden jewels of the area, whilst avoiding busy roads to really enjoy each turn of the pedals. 
This circular route starts and ends in the magnificent town of Sarlat, a delightful place for lovers of both history and cycling!

Discover the Cathar country by bike from Carcassonne and its medieval walled town. Get on your bike and discover this fabulous region, its middle-aged bustling history at the time of the crusade against the Albigeans. 
The Cathar country hosts plenty of medieval secrets and shows you its natural richness, beautiful landscapes and impressing cultural heritage.
 

Setting off from the famous port of La Rochelle, you follow the superb route of La Vélodyssée. Discover the royal city of Rochefort, situated in the bend of the River Charente, then on through the oyster parks of the Marennes. Cycle paths weave through pine forests to lead you to Royan and the Médoc. Having crossed the Gironde Estuary, you reach the beaches, pine forests and charming seaside resorts of the Aquitaine region. Awaiting you at the end of your trip is the Bassin d’Arcachon, where you will have time to fully enjoy all it has to offer.

Starting from Carcassonne, embark on a journey to explore the springs of the Midi Canal. Following the Midi Canal and a very nice bike path along the Rigole, you’ll arrive at the famous Lake St Ferreol where you can take a dip in an enchanting setting. After visiting the city of Revel, it’s time to cross the Black Mountain to rejoin the Midi Canal. Don’t forget to visit the abbey of St Papoul on the way. You’ll end up back in the city of Carcassonne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
